The Wilaya Trust is a charity that provides holistic, community-based education in Oxford, and supports other communities to do the same. We develop an approach to learning in which the cognitive, physical, and spiritual well-being of individuals is cultivated by practising knowledge in community.

Story

In the name of Allah, Most Merciful and Compassionate. May Allah's peace and blessings shower upon our messenger Muhammad and his noble family.
“When the son of Adam dies his actions come to an end except three: a continuing charity, knowledge which gives benefit, or a pious child who prays for him.” — The Prophet Muhammad (Allah bless him and give him peace)

Assalam alaykum,
Knowledge is an essential part of being a Muslim. Many of our problems—as individuals, and as a community here in Oxford—could be averted or solved through access to authentic learning and wisdom: from the Book of Allah and from His final Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace), transmitted through the living example and teaching of scholars.
The Oxford Traditional Knowledge Foundation (OTKF) is a local educational initiative that aims to provide Oxford with access to such authentic learning. For the past two years, OTKF has organised a number of educational programmes in Oxford. The most prominent has been the weekly Sunday Madrasa, providing free courses in Arabic, spirituality, belief, and Muslim practice (fiqh), and attracting students from the local community and beyond.
Before we can expand, as we hope to insha'Allah, to provide two more vital services—a support group for new Muslims and a long-term Hifz programme—OTKF’s flagship programme—the Weekly Madrasa—needs your aid. Without your support, the weekly Madrasa may not be able to continue. The weekly Madrasa alone requires £1000 a month.
By donating, you can play an important part in ensuring that the Madrasa and OTKF’s other services become a stable source of education and spirituality for ourselves, our families, and for the Oxford community.
The Prophets and their heirs, the scholars, never permitted money to become a barrier to learning. The OTKF strives to emulate this example, by providing its educational courses for free, or highly subsidised, whenever possible. In order to realise this, OTKF, a registered charity, relies on donations from people like you who believe in the importance of learning.
Let us strive to act upon the words of the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) mentioned above: to establish “a continuing charity”, by setting up a recurring donation; to increase “knowledge”, by facilitating and attending the OTKF’s educational programmes; and to leave behind “pious children”—the future generations of the Oxford Muslim community—by providing a source of learning and improvement through OTKF.
