What are we doing?
We are doing an altered version of the Three Peaks Challenge which we have called “The 3 Three Peaks Challenge” This challenge consists of us hiking the three highest peaks in the UK (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon), climbing the combined height of all three of these peaks(3407m) and also abseiling this height. We have 24 hours to complete each section of the challenge. We are doing all of this to raise money for a charity called BASIC (Bridge Across Service Into Civilian). This charity helps and supports veterans with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and also helps them to go back to living ordinary civilian lives after serving; whether they have a disability or they just need some support. We chose this charity as it is local and the money we raise will be used to help veterans instead of paying for administration and advertisements which commonly happens with larger charity's.
So who is completing this challenge?
Jack Davison, Miran Chauhan, Eliot Allan, Jake Bird, Tom Purkiss, Harry Wright, Ben Lugg and Tyler Clark. We also have a guide who is a ex-serviceman himself, Richard Golding who is a mountain leader and qualified climbing instructor that will complete the hiking part of the challenge with us and assist with the climbing and abseiling components of the challenge.
Why are we doing this challenge?
We all volunteered to do this challenge as we feel it is a way to say “Thank You” to all the soldiers that put their lives on the line everyday so we can live the lives we live today and to also offer them support when they finish serving just like they support us whilst they are serving. We feel it is important that we give something back to them as they all give so much for us which often isn't recognized enough.
We feel that we are doing this for a great cause and we hope you feel the same way; we will keep this page up to date with all the latest information about the challenge. We also have a Facebook page and a Instagram page where we will post updates on our fundraising and our challenge.
