Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit this page.

We are currently struggling to raise funds for a new E-TEC outboard for the charity's whale and dolphin research and rescue boat, "Orca II".

After six long and dutiful years of service, and over 1,000 hours on the clock, the CRRU's former trusty Evinrude motor finally gave-up-the-ghost in September last year. She was subsequently transported to a specialist mechanic in Edinburgh at the end of the season for a full diagnosis, and this sadly revealed extensive water-damage to the engines fuel injectors -- the replacement cost of which significantly outweighed the value of the engine itself.

Consequently, we now find ourselves in urgent need of funds for a replacement engine at a purchase price of approximately £8,000 with fitting. Unfortunately, items such as engines and vehicles are very low on the list of funding priorities for most grant awarding bodies, even though this equipment is absolutely vital to our research and rescue efforts with whales and dolphins in Scotland. Therefore we are desperately trying to raise donations and revenue to get our vessel back on the water as soon as possible.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they send your money directly to us and make sure that Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer (that's an extra 28% from the government to us on top of your donation), so it’s the most efficient way to donate whilst saving time and cutting costs for our charity as well.

Any donations, however big or small, are gratefully welcomed, and we look forward to keeping you updated on our progress. On behalf of the whales and dolphins and marine wildlife in Scotland, we thank you for your support!

With all best wishes and thanks
