Story
On 29th June 2017 nine social cyclists and one logistics expert (all from Over) will set off to cycle from Workington to Sunderland with the aim of raising £1000 for the Over Day Centre. A local group who would like to support a very worthwhile community facility. Please visit their website:
As the group name 'Over the Hill' suggests the average age of the group is 'senior' but with age comes experience and we hope this will carry us through the challenge. Training in and around Over is largely flat - the biggest hill we encounter locally is probably crossing the A14 bridge at Swavesey - and the thought of crossing the Lake District, Pennines and N.Yorks Moors is somewhat daunting.
The group of senior cyclists includes:
Mark Symons (Navigator), Tom Ashworth (Treasurer), Matthew Young (Emergency Repair Specialist), Rob Milne (Catering Officer), Nick Redmayne (Property Specialist), Steve Eccles (Travel Expert), Dave Corbett (Garmin Trainer), Adam Stevenson (Motivator), Andy Jones (Author) and most importantly Roy Phillips (Logistics).
We hope you will be able to help us reach our fundraising target for this extremely worthwhile community facility that does so much to support the elderly in our village of Over. All donations of whatever size are most welcome. As they say 'every little helps'!
Thank you
