OX5 RUN 2023 · 26 March 2023 ·

The OX5 RUN is back! Help make a difference to thousands of children treated at the Oxford Children's Hospital, children's ward at the Horton General Hospital and Critical and Emergency areas.

Story

Kaiden was diagnosed with a brain tumour on 23rd June 2022
after months of doctors appointments looking for answers to his crippling migraines. He had surgery to remove the tumour on 27th June 2022 and after a biopsy it was found he has grade 4 Medulloblastoma.

After recovering from surgery Kaiden had a Hickman line fitted
ready for treatment, but unfortunately developed an infection which meant he needed further brain surgery.

He then endured a week of chemotherapy before 6 weeks of Proton Beam Therapy at UCLH, which required a general anaesthetic each time, totalling 30 separate occasions.  Following proton therapy Kaiden had a recovery break for 6 weeks before beginning chemotherapy in December 2022.  During this 6 week break Kaiden underwent yet another operation called Testicle Preservation, to hopefully enable him to have children when he’s older. His chemotherapy is expected to last until at least August 2023.

Even at the age of 7, he has been so brave throughout this whole process and stays his happy smiley self the majority of the time.

We are super proud of him and grateful to everyone that is supporting us and of course the teams of doctors and nurses helping him through his journey, without them this would not be possible.

Absolutely anything that anyone can donate, no matter how small, could make ALL the difference.  Dig deep and donate what you can.

Thank you all so much.
