Welcoming a Syrian Refugee Family to Oxford · 14 January 2021
Oxford Welcomes Refugees is a group of local people preparing to resettle a vulnerable family from a refugee camps. We need to raise at least £9,000 and find a house in Oxford to rent and equip. Then, during their first year we will support this family in every way possible in learning English, finding schools for the children, registering with a GP, seeking employment and so on.
The war in Syria has created over 5.5 million refugees who continue to face bleak living conditions in neighbouring countries. "There's no hope" was how one Syrian woman described her home at a refugee camp on the Syria-Turkey border. Oxford Welcomes Refugees exists to offer hope to such a family through a Government approved scheme.
