This amazing tribe of heroes came together through the One Year No Beer alcohol free challenge. We race OCR (obstacle course racing) because we love to push ourselves mentally and physically to overcome obstacles and be a little better each day
With all that is going on in the world, the races we were due to race have been postponed until much later in the year. It's a shame as I know many have been training hard but Spartan have fired up a virtual alternative on the day we were due to race - April - 18th and we are taking it on instead
The Beast is a 13 mile obstacle course, and the Sprint is the 5K option depending on which race was signed up for. Obviously we will have to figure out running the many thousands of laps of our small gardens and available spaces, but they aren't forgetting about the obstacles either! There are 30 different exercises to complete along the way (see photos attached) We will have to be creative and may have to jump in the pond or throw mud in our faces to make it feel like the real deal
The main reason is because we have the time thanks to the continued work of the NHS, tirelessly working towards a future when we can get back and do these things we love
The hope is to raise money to support the NHS workers in their ongoing fight against COVID-19. All proceeds will be donated to NHS Charities Together – a national appeal to protect the welfare of NHS staff and equip them to fight the virus and continue to save lives
We are so grateful to all of you. Anything you can spare to help this great cause at a time we know it will do so much good is very much appreciated
Every little helps. Thank you, and as the Spartan say AROO!
