Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

You can find out more about my planned paddle and the reasons for this tribute to Rob Furneaux at www.paddle4rob.uk.

Rob passed away in December 2021 at the age of 66 as a result of this cruel disease. Yet even to the end he retained his sense of humour and passion for the things he loved - classical music, the Tamar Valley, quizzes and friends.

This paddle is as much a recognition of the support given to Rob by Team Rob in Bere Ferrers who were with him throughout and who supported him tirelessly. They are installing a commemorative bench on Bere Ferrers Quay, a place he dearly loved, The paddle remembers his (and my) first arrival at the quay back in 1974 (I think). Once he moved to the village he regularly sailed from there to explore not just the Tamar Valley but the coast from Lands End to Dorset.
