Paeds HDU Nurse’s Skydive · 2 July 2021

Rockinghorse is a Brighton-based charity which has been supporting children for over 50 years. It was set up in 1967 by Dr Trevor Mann to improve healthcare services for sick children and babies. The charity fundraises for items for every child's treatment, from toys to life-saving equipment.

Story

Myself, Hannah, Miki, Nat, Nicola, Helen Q, and Emma S. have decided to take the plunge and do a skydive to raise money for the Rockinghorse Children’s Charity. As you can imagine fundraising has been hit hard the last 18months. Therefore, some of us Paediatric HDU nurses have decided to try and help them out.

The Rockinghorse Children’s Charity aims to improve the lives of sick children throughout Sussex. They are the fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital (the Alex) in Brighton. But also provide vital support to the neighbouring Trevor Mann Baby Unit (TMBU) and its sister site, The Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) based within the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath. In addition they support paediatric wards in hospitals across Sussex, respite centres and children’s services in the county.

Last year Rockinghorse provided the Alex Children’s Hospital with vital equipment including ventilators, bedside stethoscopes, parent camp beds, a portable lung function machine and an anaesthetic pump.

The money raised from the skydive which we will be doing on the 25th of September will go toward medical equipment, Co2 monitoring, Toni box audiobook readers, sensory equipment for special babies, visualise ceiling lights, woodland wellbeing days, and riding therapy.

Any donations greatly appreciated, thank you 🙏 🪂
