Rebecca May is raising money for British Heart Foundation
In memory of Pam May
Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

My mum Pam May died of end stage heart failure on 16 February 2023, having battled with the disease for over three years as it gradually sapped her energy and made her day-to-day living a struggle.  Heart disease affects over 7 million people in the UK today and we need more research into its causes and treatments.  Mum told us that she did not want a 'flowery' funeral but if you would perhaps have spent money on flowers  we would invite you to instead donate to British Heart Foundation through this site or to Marie Curie Solihull directly in her memory.  We managed to get mum into Marie Curie on the last day of her life and the care she received there was wonderful.   Whilst mum would have believed, as we do, that hospice care should be available to all who need it and properly funded through our taxation system, this is sadly not the case so organisations like Marie Curie play a vital role.  At the time mum died only 12 of the 24 possible beds at the Solihull hospice were open due to inadequate funding.
