Story
I am taking part in 3,000 Push Ups in June for Teenage Cancer Trust. That's on average 100 push ups a day! Every day, seven young people aged 13-24 hear the words you have cancer. They will each need specialised nursing care and support to get them through it. Teenage Cancer Trust are the only charity in the UK charity dedicated to meeting this vital need so no young person faces cancer alone. Every £25 donation provides an hour to talk. A Youth Support Coordinator provides the extra help young people need with things like studies, relationships and mental wellbeing throughout cancer treatment. £25 could pay for an hour of their time, helping them be there when they're needed most.
One of the reasons I’m doing this is that I lost my partner to cancer in 2018, he was tough and fought that battle til the end but the only time I’d ever seen him cry was when he said ‘All this pain, I can’t believe children are going through this, those poor kids’ and he was really torn up over it. I often think about it. Now it’s time to do something about it. When I saw this challenge pop up I decided it was a sign to do something to help. I also want to send love to all the young people out there, the new generations are strong and smart despite the world being so weird and confusing, I’m doing it for them because they are the future.
Last thing, in all my life (I’m 40 on June 7th) I’d never been able to do push ups but I learned them/was capable of doing them last year after spending 3 years working on my physical AND mental health, and despite not finding them at all easy, that’s why I chose this challenge as it’s a PROPER challenge and every single rep will mean something so much bigger. Please join me in raising whatever we can for the young people carrying the torch, anything helps and will count. LET’S DO THIS!
P.S I’ll be doing this challenge everywhere I go, gym, home, outside, shopping, Athens for my bday and wherever else I roam in June. I’ll post updates a long the way any support is appreciated💪🤝
