Story
On May 12th 2018, the day of our challenge, it will be 18 years since Paul and Pamela lost their first child Daniel due to a Group B Streptococcus infection.
This year Reuben is 11. He survived a Group B Streptococcus meningitis infection during his first week of life. Despite the challenges he and his family face he is an inspiration to many in the positive and happy way he approaches life.
We want to raise awareness and support the charity that supported us and continues to support many other families at times of need.
Group B Strep continues to be the number one cause of life threatening infections in new born babies and of meningitis in babies under 3 months. Most of these infections are preventable. GBSS informs health professionals and families to save tiny lives.
£10 could give 200 Mums information leaflets advising how to protect their unborn babies from Group B Strep.
£20 could pay for an hour's running of the helpline, supporting more than 100 families every month.
£50 could pay for the charity to support a family in crisis: bereaved parents and those whose baby has been very ill from a GBS infection.
£100 could pay for the charity to support health professionals, giving them up to date information about the best methods for identifying babies most at risk of a GBS infection, effective prevention strategies, current guidelines and the latest research.
