The sight of empty shelves and people grappling desperately to stockpile toilet roll and pasta is enough to send anyone into a panic. 

An unfortunate side effect of the panic buying response to the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak is a sharp decline in food bank donations at a time when many will need them most. As a nation, we must step up and protect our food banks so they can keep our communities from starvation in a time of great uncertainty.
