London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·

We work tirelessly to ensure all wild animals, whether living in captivity or in the wild, are treated with compassion and respect. Working across the world to preserve, protect and rescue wild animals in need. Help us take action and Keep Wildlife in the Wild.

Story

On 2 October I will be part of the "Run Wild" team at the London Marathon, which will be raising funds for Born Free and their Forever Lions Fund.

Why do people put themselves through the pain of running 26.2 miles? I am thinking this very question during my training these days. Perhaps, overcoming challenges is part of our human nature, a need even to prove to ourselves that we are worthy of being alive. Perhaps, "going the extra mile", overcoming an obstacle, or 26 of them in a marathon race, gives us strength to do the same in every day life as well.

Please support my participation at the London Marathon 2022, by donating generously to Born Free. This year, is Born Free's Year of the Lion,  a year of action for lions in honour of the 100th birthday year of the Charity’s fearless founder Bill Travers MBE. The Forever Lions Fund, set up in memory of Bill, will raise funds and awareness to protect wild lions, resolve conflict with local people, stop the slaughter of trophy hunting, and protect lions exploited in captivity.
