Gower Peninsula Mighty Hike

Gower Peninsula Mighty Hike 2024 - full marathon · 6 July 2024 ·
In July 2024, I am taking on a 26 mile Mighty Hike in the stunning Gower Peninsula to raise money for people living with cancer.
Recently I bumped into a chum whilst strolling in the glorious
Herefordshire countryside and we quickly started harrumphing about the aches and pains we both carry as we advance through our 50s and 60s. We concluded our comparison of ice packs, anti-inflammatories and pain killers by deciding the best solution was to “give something back” and get into training to join a Mighty Hike (warped logic that can probably only be explained by our combined 54 years of service in the army and police service?).
Every four minutes someone in the UK dies from cancer. About half of the population will experience cancer in some way and the UK survival rate for cancer is about 50% (data courtesy of https://www.cancerresearchuk.org). Cancer can affect you physically, emotionally and financially and every day, thousands of people living with cancer rely on Macmillan in thousands of different ways (www.macmillan.org.uk).
I have pledged to raise £2,000 and would appreciate any support in reaching this. By fundraising my pledge, together we could pay for a Macmillan Support Worker for two weeks who could provide emotional, practical and financial advice to someone affected by cancer.
