Story
1 in 7 babies born at the L&D will need specialist care.
Over 1,000 premature and sick babies are treated by our Neonatal Intensive Care team every year. There are even more babies who are in need of specialist care each and every year.
As the numbers in specialist baby care increase, so does the need for parents' accommodation, allowing parents to be with their babies whilst they are receiving life saving treatment.
Thanks to your kind and generous donations, our parents' bungalow continues to offer free housing on the hospital site. In 2019 we were able to expand the accommodation by purchasing and transforming a 3 bedroom house into a 5 bedroom accommodation - this was called the NICU Big Build Project.
The L&D's NICU can now offer up to 11 rooms for parents to stay in! However, we still need your support to keep them running. Year after year, we must rely on donations for the ongoing costs of both properties, which are offered to families free of charge.
We now have the task of raising £20,000 annually to keep and maintain both the houses, which will allow us to continue providing our free 'home from home' facility, enabling parents to sleep and rest whilst being as close as possible to their baby.
Please make a donation if you can!
