1 in 7 babies born at the L&D will need specialist care.
Thanks to your kind and generous donations our parents bungalow continues to offer accommodation on site for the parents of babies who are very poorly or have come a long way to be treated by our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
In the last year 1016 premature and sick babies were treated by our NICU but there are even more babies who are in need of specialist care and we are now seeking your support to expand the Parent's Accommodation.
Due to the urgent need for more parent space we have recently purchased a 3 bedroom property close to the hospital.
We now have the task of raising £150,000 this year to keep maintain both the bungalow and the new house and to renovate and transform the new property from its current state into suitable parents accommodation.
The money raised will allow us to continue providing our free home from home facility which enables some parents, who live far away from the hospital, to sleep and rest whilst being as close as possible to their baby.
Once refurbished and updated the new property will offer 5 bedrooms, a kitchen, wet room/bathroom and a small garden space. This means that we will be able to offer up to 8 families a place to stay at one time across both properties.
To help us achieve our goal of transforming the new accommodation we have also launched the 'NICU Big Build' project.
As part of the project we are seeking support from local traders, suppliers and volunteers who want to make a difference and offer their skills and services to help us to complete this huge community project.
If you would like to find out more about the project or fundraising for other areas within the Hospital please feel free to contact the Fundraising Team on 01582 718 289 or email Fundraising@ldh.nhs.uk.
Thank you for your support
