Story
The 17th July 2019 will mark 5 years since flight MH17 was shot down over Ukraine, killing the 15 crew and 283 passengers on board. One of whom was our friend Ben Pocock.
To mark this anniversary and to continue to celebrate Ben's life, we (three of Ben's friends from Loughborough University) will be cycling from London to Paris; starting on the 14th July and arriving in Paris on the 17th July 2019.
Back in 2015, the three of us competed in the London Tritahlon, raising £6,400 for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. A charity who continue to work closely with Ben's mum and dad, who are completely and partially deaf. The fundraising effort of 2015 covered the cost of training Hearing Dog Benji*. So to mark 5 years since Bens' passing we want to continue our fundraising efforts for this charity and continue to celebrate Ben's life.
Any support to help us achieve our fundraising target would be massively appreciated.
*A note from Hearing Dogs for Deaf People: Due to Benji's excitable nature he was unable to complete the requirements of a hearing dog. However, the volunteer who initially socialised him as a pup has a grown up son with celebral palsy (full wheelchair user) who lives at home and Benji and he developed a strong bond. Benji was re-homed to them to work as a therapy dog for their son. He is excellent in this role and has learned additional skills such as helping to take his socks off! He is very much loved and continues to change a life.
