Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Some 15 months ago, prompted by my daughter’s wedding, I decided once again to try to lose weight. I have tried to do this for a lot of years, first losing a bit and then putting it all back on and more, and decided that this time I would get advice and help through personal training.
I have trained with my friend Mike since then. He has encouraged me, pushed me till I thought I could not take another step, nagged me and called me names, but always made me believe I can succeed. I have run, jumped, boxed, carried weights, stretched and sweated every week to achieve my goal.
I would like to thank my family and of course Mike for the support and encouragement they have given me.
Now, 3 stone lighter, I have got the running bug and have decided to use some of this new-found fitness to run 10k to raise money for Marie Curie.
I have chosen Marie Curie because I have become involved in the charity over the last few years and heard some of their wonderful nurses talk about their work. They give people with a terminal illness the help and support to make choices about where they die, and also support the families at this very sad time.
My sister died at home, several years ago, from leukaemia but my mum died in hospital and I know she would have preferred to be at home. Many other people would like the choice but remain unaware that this is possible, or how to go about arranging it. This is what Marie Curie does.
Whatever you give helps support other families at a time of great stress - £20 pays for 1 hour’s nursing care, £200 pays for a nurse’s shift, so please help if you can.
