Story
Pat Marsh and Anton Wright will be taking on a personal challenge to row along the Thames in an Ocean rowing boat.
After 100 days of lockdown and enforced restrictions and isolation they are relishing the opportunity of being able to enjoy, in the fresh air, the sport that they love.
Pat Marsh is a former chairman of Cambridge University Women’s Boat Club and a Fellow of Magdalene College. During her career she has owned manufacturing companies and was Chairman of Birmingham Children’s Hospital NHS trust.
Anton Wright has rowed down the Amazon river, sailed across the Atlantic, competed in 80km ice skating races and lived off grid for many years, including 8 years of living on a narrow boat and off grid in the woods of Scotland as part of a reality TV show. He was the Boatman and Head Coach at Clare College, Cambridge for 8 years, where he met Pat. Together they organised the Parkside Rowing Challenge.
Both Pat and Anton have a passion for rowing and inspiring youngsters to take up the sport. As they both come from unconventional impecunious backgrounds they want rowing to appeal to the widest youth audience. They believe sport should be fun, inclusive and available for all.
These aims and aspirations are already being met by the AHOY Centre and they both want to offer their support to continue the excellent work that the AHOY Centre is doing.
