Patricia's Walk 100 miles in September for Children in Crossfire

Walk 100 miles in September · 1 September 2021
This September, I'll be joining together with over a thousand other people to walk 100 miles to raise money for the Derry-based charity, Children in Crossfire. If you can't donate right now, you can still help by sharing this page on your social media channels so that others might support the fundraiser.
One hundred miles in a month - that's an average of just over three miles a day or 25 miles a week and I'll post regular updates on twitter and Instagram at @irlpatricia so you can keep up with my progress. I might try and organise a few group walks or doggie walks as well, so keep an eye out for those.
The story of Children in Crossfire has its roots in what began as a tragedy and ended as a triumph of the human spirit to overcome adversity.
Founded In Derry in 1996 by Richard Moore who was blinded by a rubber bullet as a 10 year old boy in 1972 during the Northern Ireland conflict, Children in Crossfire supports projects helping some of the most vulnerable children on the planet that suffer from the injustice of poverty.
The charity works in partnership with local organisations in Tanzania and Ethiopia to improve the lives of the most disadvantaged young children, with a particular focus on Early Childhood Education, health and nutrition. As an example of their work, Children in Crossfire have treated over 10,000 children in Ethiopia for severe acute malnutrition. In Ireland, they work in schools and with the general public to raise awareness of global justice issues, and advocate for increased investment in education.
By improving early childhood care, Children in Crossfire are changing lives and empowering young children and their communities to build a better future.
