Story

Olivia Macleod was born on 18th of May 2013 and passed away on 2nd of January 2022 aged just 8 years old.

  • Olivia attended Glasgow Children's Hospital (and previously Yorkhill) regularly, since she was a baby.  This would often be for routine appointments, but also for admissions when she was unwell. Although there were difficult times associated with being in hospital, there were fun and happy times too.  Olivia's 4th birthday is one of those occasions, where staff made such an effort to make the day special.  Amongst other things, they arranged a visit by the 'Clown Doctors', the family have great memories of that day.

Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity does great work, helping to make the hospital experience a positive one for children and their parents.

  • The walk is called "Olivia's Journey" as it encompasses the schools which  Olivia attended.  The plan is to leave from Sgoil an Rubha, pass her house at Melbost,  Sandwick School, Hillcrest Residential , Stornoway Primary and to finish at Sgoil nan Loch. The route is approximately 20miles.  Community and friends can take part in the whole walk or choose part of the route shown in the gallery.
  • The children in the partaking schools will walk the equivalent 20miles over the course of the term within their school grounds, counting their miles within their classes. The children are very excited to be part of this project.
  • The actual road walk will be carried out by staff across the agencies who supported Olivia from Education (Sandwick, Sgoil nan Loch, Stornoway Primary, Sgoil an Rubha and the Nicolson); the NHS and Action for Children, wanted to come together as community and fundraise for Glasgow Children's Hospital in memory of Olivia.
  • If anyone else would like to take part in the walk please email sgoilnanloch@gnes.net with the subject Olivia's Journey and for the attention of Mrs P Macleod.

We are looking forward to completing this together in aid of this wonderful charity.

Olivia Macleod - In our hearts forever!
