Story
Pat, Nicole, Chris and Mike are joining forces to take on one of the most prestigious marathons in the world in memory of Al Dawson and raising money for Bone Cancer Research Trust (BCRT).
Al Dawson was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in 2005 aged 14. In 2006, after 1 year of gruelling chemotherapy, we celebrated Al's post chemo bash. Just 5 months later, we received the news that Al's cancer had returned. It had spread to his lungs. He endured more surgery and radiotherapy but the cancer continued to spread, to his ribs, jaw, spine and feet. Al didn't lose a battle with cancer - it was never a fight he could win. He was courageous, mature and brave. He fought the disease with every ounce of strength he had.
On 7th November 2007, he passed away at home surrounded by his closest friends and family. Since then we have been working hard to support the Bone Cancer Research Trust (BCRT). Supporting smaller charities, like BCRT, makes an enormous contribution to the specialist projects they are able fund and Al's memory lives on.
He was an inspiration as a twin, brother, son and friend. A fine young man. Please do help us support BCRTs vital work.
Al was a keen athlete and at the age of 14 ran the "London Mini-Marathon" for Yorkshire. In his memory we are taking on the FULL 26.2 mile London Marathon to raise much needed funds to aid research into cures for bone cancer.
BCRT is dedicated to saving lives & improving results for people affected by primary bone cancer. Unfortunately, survival rates in bone cancer haven't improved for over 30 years. With your support and kind donation we can move to develop research and create better outcomes!
We thank you and wish us good luck!
