My wife died in early January 23 and after about 3 months I decided that I needed to do something in memory of the special person I had met over 15 years ago - My wife, soulmate and best friend.

I also needed a personal challenge and a way to support a great local charity "Hospice at Home".

So on the 28th May I embarked on the Wainwright challenge (214 Lakeland fells to climb over a 12 to 15 month timescale).

Within 5 minutes after starting out on the climb up Ullock Pike on my way to the summit of Skiddaw I was out of breath and thinking "this is a huge mistake". I managed to continue on a beautiful day and after around 5 hours the 1st walk was complete!

Several days later on my second walk I got partially lost and returned to the car 7 hours later completely shattered!
