Tadworth to Lake Como 2022 · 24 June 2022

Nephrotic Syndrome (NS) affects approx 10,000 people in the UK, majority are children, with no known cause or cure. The current treatment is non-specific and highly toxic, with many potentially life-threatening complications. NeST funds Bristol Children's Hospital in researching NS to find a cure.

Story

Hi Im Paul and my 12 year old son Morgan (pictured right) was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome at 15 months, as well as suffering from various other medical issues. For my 50th birthday I pledged to help raise £50,000 for The Nephrotic Syndrome Trust (NeST) through various events over a 2 year period.

The Trust was set up in 2005 due to the lack of research into Nephrotic Syndrome and to give the Syndrome a voice. Working alongside the expert Paediatric Renal team at Bristol university children hospital to research a cure for Nephrotic Syndrome.

In the first 12 months we have raised over £26,000 through 2 March marathon events and now I'm aiming to raises £10,000 on the Lake Come bike ride.

Over 9 days the team of Neil Whitton, Paul Brown, John Chammings, Sarah Bowen, David and Thomas Ibeson, Bryan Butterworth, Andy Baker, Mark Hudson, Steve Watkins, James Whitmarsh ,Keith Grainger and myself will be cycling over 960 miles from Tadworth in Surrey to Lake Como,Italy
