Story
In October 2021 we got the devastating news that our youngest child Sean had brain cancer, and he has been fighting this cruel disease ever since. Despite experiencing severe fatigue and a range of of disabilities from his treatment, Sean returned to his School St Joseph's College, and carried on with his studies. In Sept 2024 he gained a place at Ulster University to study Biomedical Engineering and returned to St Josephs that year, to receive the inaugural Meta O'Donnell prize for his outstanding achievements in the face of so much adversity.
Sean is determined to face his challenges with courage and fortitude and he continues to be an inspiration to everyone.
We have set up this Just Giving page to raise much needed funds for the Children’s Cancer and Haematology Unit at the Royal Victoria Children’s Hospital, which is where Sean received his initial treatment. The care and support we received was truly overwhelming, and we will be eternally grateful to the team of staff, who always went the extra mile for Sean and all of the other children in their care. For over nine months we practically lived in the hospital and this would not have been possible without the support of the staff and the Children's Cancer Unit Charity.
The Children's Cancer Unit Charity supports the Children’s Cancer Unit at the Royal Children’s Hospital. They fund critical treatment, staff training and support for the families, who travel from all parts of Northern Ireland.
Nothing can prepare parents for the devastating news that their child has cancer, but the invaluable support and care they receive from the Children’s Cancer Unit can provide some comfort and hope.
For the past four years, I have run a total of 36 marathons for the Children' s Cancer Unit charity. This year i have moved onto triathlon and my goal is Ironman Copenhagen in August. I will continue running and competing until we reach our fundraising target.
Over the past few years we have been truly overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity and support and once again we are appealing to our family and friends to make a donation, organise fundraising activities, or simply share this Just Giving page on social media, so that we can continue to give something back to the Children’s Cancer Unit and hopefully reach our fundraising target.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity. Please note that when you make a donation, JustGiving automatically adds a voluntary contribution fee, however this can be taken off by simply choosing ‘OTHER’ in the drop down menu to change the contribution amount or by simply adjusting it to zero using the slider.
Thankyou from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to visit Sean Boyle’s JustGiving page and for all of your support and generosity.
