In October 2021 we got the devastating news that our youngest child Sean had brain cancer. After successful surgery, he went through radiotherapy and chemotherapy and is now at home undergoing intensive rehabilitation.   Sean’s courage and determination have been truly inspiring and he continues to make steady progress, thanks to the wonderful team of medical staff who are looking after him and all the support he has received from family and friends.   

We have set up this Just Giving page to raise much needed funds for the Children’s Cancer and Haematology Unit at the Royal Victoria Children’s Hospital, which is where Sean received his treatment. The care and support we received was truly overwhelming, and we will be eternally grateful to the team of staff, who have always gone the extra mile for Sean and all of the other children in their care. We are in no doubt that Sean would not be here today, if it wasn't for the care and treatment he received in the Children's Cancer Unit.  

The Children's Cancer Unit Charity supports the Children’s Cancer Unit at the Royal Children’s Hospital. They fund critical treatment, staff training and support for the families, who travel from all parts of Northern Ireland.    Nothing can prepare parents for the devastating news that their child has cancer, but the invaluable support and care they receive from the Children’s Cancer Unit can provide some comfort and hope. 

For the past two years, I have run a total of 26 marathons for the Children' s Cancer Unit charity and I will continue running marathons until we reach our fundraising target.   Thankfully,  I have a bit of support this year, as my wife Emma will join me for the 2024 London marathon on the 21st April.  This will be a very special day for both of us, as it will be our 24th wedding anniversary.  It will also be Emma's first ever marathon and we are really excited that we will be running it together.  

We have been truly  overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity and support over the past two years and we are appealing once again to our family and friends to make a donation, organise fundraising activities, or simply share this Just Giving page on social media, so that we can continue to give something back to the Children’s Cancer Unit and hopefully reach our fundraising target.
