Story
Hi all, thanks for visiting.
2017 was the start of me trying to become healthy. At 44 I had a lot of bad habits, which ultimately would contribute to a poorer quality of life in years to come.
This half marathon wasn't part of my plan as I considered it too much too soon. But, after a conversation with a couple of friends we decided to give it a bash... and here we are. Whats the worse that could happen?
I didn't sign up to the race with the intent to raise funds for charity, but feel that helping someone else in the process is an additional incentive and a worthwhile one.
There are a number of charity's that I could have chosen that are close to my heart right now. Alzheimer's, Dementia and Cancer are currently impacting people that I love. I could have tried to raise funds for either of those charities but wanted to choose a smaller local charity.
I chose the charity based on the most important things in my life. My boys Dexter and Sebastian and my wife Lou, I'm doing this for them really.
Friends of Enborne is a local charity that raise funds for the Enborne C of E Primary School. The same school that my wife went to all those years ago, and the school that my boys go to now. They need funding to give the children similar facilities that other bigger schools have. With only around 65 in the whole school, the funding they receive isn't huge. Friends of Enborne try and make up the shortfall to buy essential things like library books, computers etc.
If you can spare it, I would appreciate your donation.
