Survival of the Fittest · 12 November 2011

Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. At Cardiac Risk In the Young we aim to save young lives & to help those affected by the sudden cardiac death. We do this by providing support, information & screening those affected.

Running on the 12/11 for Charity. Please read my just giving page and dig deep for this good cause

Hello and thank for taking the time to visit my page.

On the 12/11/2011 i am competing in the 10k Survivial of the Fittest event in London. I'll be climbing through cars and crawling through mud with 7000 other competitors for charity.  http://mhsurvival.co.uk/

For this run i am raising money for CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) Charity No 1050845.

They helped a close friend through a very difficult time and deserve all the support they can get.

Please read on for more details and thank you in advance for your support

In April this year a close friends fiancée died as a result of SADS (Sudden Adult Death Syndrome), which was a result of a so far undiagnosed heart condition.

The charity CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) financed additional pathology to enable the cause of death to be determined. They also funded and fast tracked testing of her 2 year old son to start to make headway in establishing whether he has the same condition as his father.

One in 12 families suffer the tragic loss of an apparently fit and healthy young person from an undiagnosed heart condition each week in the UK, and CRY are funding extensive research into this. It is a condition that is on the rise for no explained reason so far. Between January and April this year, 67 sudden death cases were received at the CRY centre for Cardiac Pathology as opposed to 47 in the same previous period.

The saddest thing about these Sudden Deaths is that they could be prevented by Cardiac Screening and this is something CRY is working towards.

So please dig deep and donate now.
