Challenge 72
Walking 72 miles. Carrying 72lbs. In under 72 hours.
Between 27th and 29th August, Aide Myatt and Jim Cowan will be taking on 'Challenge 72' where each of them will carry 72lbs while walking 72 miles, inside 72 hours.
This is in memory of the 72 lives lost in the Grenfell Tower fire and to raise funds for the Grenfell Foundation.
It is a huge challenge requiring a team effort and Aide and Jim will be supported by Leighton Evans, Mo Qasim, Paul Carter, and Paul Watson along the way.
Every pound raised will make a real difference to the lives of the community around Grenfell, to those affected by the tragic events of that night. Funds raised will be used to support wellbeing and counselling for those affected; community projects and remembrance will also benefit, and assist in ensuring that such a tragedy never happens again.
Starting and finishing at the Grenfell Memorial Garden, our route will take us to the Thames and then along the river heading west out of London. At the 36 mile point near Weybridge, we will turn around and retrace our steps.
The target is to complete 24 miles a day (nearly a marathon a day) carrying a load of 72lbs (5 stone 2lbs or 32.7kg) each for every step along the way.
The walk is about remembrance and about hope for the future. The walk is about raising funds to help make a real difference.
Join us in making that difference. Please sponsor us for as much as you can and share our fundraising page as far and wide as you can.
Thank you in advance for your support. Your contribution to Challenge 72 and to the Grenfell Foundation means so much to us and to so many others.
