THIS IS A NEW FUND RAISING APPEAL: Please donate

As many of you will be aware I have been supporting schools
in Blantyre, Malawi since January this year. During this time I have witnessed the verypoor conditions where wonderful children and teachers are forced to spend their learning/teaching time. Almost all school classrooms are dark dismal places that certainly do not inspire productive teaching and learning. Some classrooms have crumbling walls and roofs that would most definitely be declared dangerous and closed down in a UK setting. Other children spend their learning time in open-air classrooms under trees with nothing more than a teacher, a blackboard and a piece of chalk as resources to share with the 100 other children in the class! One teacher in a ‘crumbling’ classroom commented that it was better than under a tree. I’m not so sure! While all schools are in a dreadful state I have noticed one school in particular that completely fits the description above. It desperately needs help to make the school environment a place where teachers and children are inspired to improve. While back home during the summer I visited a Glasgow based charity called “Classrooms for Malawi”. They spend their time raising funds for Malawi schools that require building improvements. I have made a commitment that I will raise funds on their behalf and in return they assure me that all funds that I raise will go directly to the school that I mention above and no other school. I know that the focus of these funds in one school will go a long way to making it a better learning environment and the pupils and teachers will benefit tremendously. This will help to improve standards and move the whole community some way out of the abject poverty in which they survive. Your support will be greatly appreciated so please feel free to make a donation that you can afford no matter how small that might be in any currency that you wish. In my part I can assure you that I will keep a close watch on progress and keep you informed. Please visit my “Just Giving”site to donate. Thank you. Paul
