Story
Hi - I'm joining a fantastic team of people to participate in the Marathon du Medoc. We'd really appreciate any contribution to the important efforts of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
I don't normally ask people for donations in connection to my running - after all, it (running marathons) is what I do anyway. I have done only once before in 2008, in memory of my Grandad who was diagnosed with MND shortly after he retired. He and my Nanna didn't have the long and happy retirement together that they should have done.
And now I've also seen good friends of mine having their lives changed forever by this cruel, and incurable disease.
I've known Keta since I was at University, and Kevin since schooldays. Keta was diagnosed with MND in 2014. Since then they, and their 2 daughters, have set about living life to the fullest. Their remarkable efforts have seen them raise more than £80,000 for the MNDA so far.
The team going to the Marathon du Medoc comprises over 15 of the family and friends of Kevin and Keta. Keta's now in a wheelchair. But that's not going to stop her, and we'll all complete the marathon together on 9th September. In fancy dress.
