I entered the Hackney Half Marathon because I wanted the opportunity to raise some money for Macmillan Cancer Support. My mum, Sue Mallia, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December 2014. Macmillan has provided support and guidance to both my mum and her family, helping us all through what can be an overwhelming experience. From simply listening to us and answering our questions, to putting us in touch with the right people, to holding my mum's hand while she was in hospital for treatment, they have been there throughout. My mum was very supportive when I told her that I wanted to raise some money for Macmillan by running the Hackney Half Marathon. Unfortunately my mum lost her fight on 14th March this year. Please help me to help Macmillan to help the thousands of people who are living with cancer in the UK.
