Fundraising for Maggie's Centres
Story
I'm cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats - it's all going to be done on the static bike in my bedroom!
I've checked the 'official' distance and it's 1409 kms, so will take me some time. Due to time constraints, I need to do this over 50 days which will allow me an avg of 28 kms per day, and will mainly be done on Zwift so my totals can be reported on FB now and again or if I reach a major mileage point.
Why am I doing this? My friend Derek is 53 and living with advanced terminal cancer. He doesn’t focus on how many days, weeks or months he may have left, but lives his life making the most of every day. He's really quite inspiring despite his illness and he is doing all he can to raise money for Maggie’s Cancer Centres.
Derek currently faces arduous chemotherapy sessions along with other treatments in order to help extend his life and quality of life. Therefore, I have no excuse - I’m doing this cycle in support of him.
I would really appreciate anything towards my total of £1000 which will go to Maggie's Cancer Centres which offer support to people with cancer and their families. A drop-in centre for people to find help and information, a safe space to talk to friends and pull up a chair and have a coffee around a big old kitchen table and chat with others in the same situation.
