Story

In April 2027, I will be taking part in the London Marathon in support of Make‑A‑Wish UK and I couldn't be prouder to be running this iconic venue for such a great cause.

I started to get fit again in May 2025 with the intention of progressing my cycling ability and mileage to get fit, enjoy life more and just be a more present father and person to those close to me at home and work.

If I think back to May 2025 I had no intention of running, I never had, I hated it, literally couldn't think of anything worse, then I got involved in Hyrox and loved it but it was clear to do better at Hyrox you need to be better at running so I started in August, at first it was slow, walk, run, walk run, you get the gist and then over time I got a bit better and by Xmas I completed my first half marathon. What is going on I asked myself!

London is always something I have watched on the TV, admired people for doing it, looked at the crowds and thought wow that looks special. I never once thought I would be there doing it, I still don't now really, right now (June 2026) its still very exciting but a very very dauting thought. To this point I have run 3 half marathons and I have more booked, including the iconic Great North Run in September but I have never gone beyond 22k. This is 44k !!

Anyway, thanks for reading, thanks for donating to an amazing charity that I am incredibly proud to support and thank you for helping me have a purpose to put the extra effort in now to train so I am confident and capable of making that finish line come April 2027.

For more than 134,000 children across the UK, everyday life is shaped by hospital visits, treatments and uncertainty rather than the simple experiences most children take for granted.

Make‑A‑Wish UK exists to give these children something positive to hold on to. By granting carefully chosen wishes, the charity helps create moments of excitement, strength and happiness at a time when families need it most. These experiences can offer children a break from illness and give families memories they will carry with them long into the future.

Running the 2027 TCS London Marathon is my way of supporting this work and helping to raise funds so more wishes can be granted. Any support you are able to give will contribute directly to creating these special moments for children and families across the UK.
