Story
My wonderful little sister sadly lost her fight with cancer on 10th April 2022 - she spent the last few weeks in the splendid care of those at Sue Ryder Hospice in Reading.
As many of you know Nicola had been battling for several years with goblet cell cancer that encroached into her peritoneum, Unfortunately because of this she had to leave her dream job as BA cabin crew. She had many rounds of chemo and multiple operations to try to stem the disease. However she was always so positive and pragmatic about her fate. She was just a truly remarkable young woman who enjoyed her life and made everyone she met feel special. Nicola always had time to chat with you and listen to your stories. She put a smile on everyone's face that she encountered. ( View Gallery to see )
I'm sure you have many fond memories of time shared with Nicola. She didn't want a big ceremony or lavish send off and wanted you all to remember her in your own unique way. She was very well cared for at the hospice and decided any donations you may wish to make might go here.
I have been so blessed to have had such a magnificent sister. Going to miss you NAJ !!!!! God bless you Nicola and RIP xxx
Lockdown, PPE and visitor restrictions didn't stop Sue Ryder. They kept on caring because people like me cared too. But there is one thing that could stop them now. With less income from their shops and many fundraising events cancelled this year, they already have £2m less coming in each month than they need to keep running at full capacity. Sue Ryder Nurses and healthcare staff are needed more than ever at a time when they simply don't have enough funding. Were facing an end-of-life care crisis the likes of which we've never seen before.
