Story

My name is Paul Joyce, I am 49 years old and work as a physiotherapist. I have been competing in Marathons and Ironman triathlons for over 14 years.

This year I am running to London Marathon in memory of my Dad "John" who passed away in 2012 from Cerebellar Ataxia, Multi Systems Atrophy.

My dad was diagnosed 9 years before he died and treatment and awareness of the condition is limited. It is potentially one of the most cruel conditions and without doubt one of the most lonely disorders imaginable.

There are cancer support groups and end of life care is provided for patients and family members, there is support for cardiovascular disorders and Alzhiemers, Stroke and Parkinsons, to name a few are conditions that have support and well funded research that eases the journey. But Multi Systems Atrophy?Ataxia is a condition that has limited awareness and is not well documented.

As such, I feel so strongly about raising awareness and hopefully funding into support for patients and families going through the journey and possibly raise funding for the research into understanding one of the most isolating, lonely and cruel disorders.

So I hope you can support and donate to this charity to help me on this journey.

Thank you all in advance

Paul
