Adidas Silverstone Half Marathon 2012 · 11 March 2012 ·

Partnering with parents, we support families whose children have additional needs or disabilities by providing compassion, guidance and hope. SNAP helps families across Essex with children 0 – 25 years, with any additional need and disability.

Story

To put this request for support in perspective I'd like to give a very brief story :

My beautiful daughter, Marcia, since being born has had a bit of a roller coaster first year of life. Her first month of life was spent in the Royal London Hospital having part of her small intestine removed. Following this successful major operation she was tested to ensure that there weren't any underlying genetic problems.... There were.

Marcia has a rare chromosome deletion within chromosome 1. This means that her life will be a challenge. The likelihood is that she may never talk, will struggle to walk and all those things that we all take for granted will be a challenge within her life.

If you're a parent (or not) I guess you'll realise the impact this has upon a family. Hence, the last year has been tough.

5 months ago we were introduced to SNAP. I can honestly say they have changed our lives. They provide an amazing environment to take Marcia to aid her development which has facilities and professionals that improve the quality of her life and the lives of many other children and families who face the same difficulties!

To give something back I want to raise £20,000 to support them buying some more sensory equipment. This equipment gives children like my wonderful and special daughter better quality of life.

I will be running the Silverstone Adidas Half Marathon early next year. Please trust me, this will be painful! I would ask that you please donate as much as you can - everything counts and will make a massive difference to this wonderful cause that I have seen change lives!

In addition, you'll get to see me in agony. Win Win! Thank you very much for your generous support!
