Humanist Society Scotland seeks to represent the views of people in Scotland who wish to lead ethical and fulfilling lives guided by reason, empathy and compassion. We provide a range of non-religious ceremonies and campaign for a secular state. HSS has over 14,000 members across Scotland.

Story

Some of you maybe aware Cathie and I volunteer and help coordinate The Humanist Society Scotland Twalk on a Wednesday evening. Since this project started we’ve been fortunate enough to meet some great people who have found themselves homeless.

We have 3 volunteer groups that walk around Glasgow city centre handing out hot soup, sandwiches, clothing and toiletries to people in need. Anything left over at the end of the evening is taken to some homeless shelters. In addition to the generous food donations by supermarkets our weekly costs are roughly £200.

In a moment of madness and despite not having run since 2013 I’ve decided to raise funds by signing up for a half marathon with 3 weeks to train! I know however that all the funds raised will go directly to helping the homeless by purchasing further kit and supplies.

Please help us continue to provide much needed supplies to those less fortunate than ourselves.
