Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Later this month I will be cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The charity arranges special events for children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions.
Earlier this year the charity made a dream come true for a friend of ours, 5 year-old Ernie. Ernie was diagnosed with a rare form of eye cancer when he was just three months old and spent much of the first three years of his life in hospital, receiving regular chemotherapy and undergoing numerous operations. He recently turned five and is now a healthy boy with the all-clear, albeit with severe visual impairment and regular hospital visits for check-ups. The Foundation recently made Ernie's wish to drive a steam train come true.
You can read more about Ernie's story here...http://www.make-a-wish.org.uk/wishes/wish-stories/full-steam-ahead-for-ernie-s-wish/
So later this month I will be hopping on a bike at Land's End, pointing it in the direction of Scotland, praying for flat roads, no punctures, sunshine, a tailwind and a little seismic activity to narrow the distance to John O'Groats and will start pedalling. The route is between 900-1,000 miles, depending upon how many times we get lost, up and over 60,000+ feet of hills (Everest is a mere 29,000ft). An average day on the 9 day journey involves covering 100+ miles while climbing the equivalent of the Shard seven times. Move over Wiggins!
Please give what you can and help other people's dreams come true.
