As many of you know my father passed away just after Xmas after a relatively short battle with cancer. After the initial radiotherapy treatment he was keen to spend as much time at home with family and in as much comfort as possible. Sadly, he never gained the strength needed to continue with Chemo but enjoyed many days at home. In order to help others in similar and very difficult circumstances I'm raising money for the Marie Curie Cancer Charity which provides end of life care to terminally ill patients.
I'm taking part in the Austrian Ironman this coming Sunday which is a huge challenge. The Ironman consists of the following stages;
- 3.8k swim
- 180km bike ride
- marathon
So it's like swimming from Hammersmith to Putney Bridge, then cycling to Brighton and back and finally topping it off with a marathon. Adding to challenge is a rather shortened training programme due to work commitments, but I've still managed to get a good number of swimming laps in at Serpentine and cycles around Richmond Park. All being well the event should take around 15 hours, starting at 7.00am with 2000 people piling into the cool waters of lake Flagenfurt and hopefully seeing me finish around sundown.
Any money you can donate will help support people and their families during the most difficult of times.
If you want to track my progress on Sunday you can search on the official site (my bib is 1380) -
