Barth syndrome is a complex and life threatening genetic condition that affects the heart, immune system and growth. Our children and adults struggle with extreme fatigue, sudden heart arrhythmias and recurring infections. Help us to fund research and to find a cure for this devastating condition.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my Just giving page. I am running the Manchester Marathon without shoes on Sunday 16th April  2023 in loving memory of  my cousins (Stefan) and his wife (Louise) little girl (Rosa Genevieve Fields) This beautiful and such amazing and brave  little Girl tragically passed away on 12th August 2017 at the age of 3 due to having a rare condition called Barth syndrome also Rosa sister (Emmylou) is currently living with the same condition. I am running to raise awareness and to raise much needed funds for Barth Syndrome UK who do unbelievable work with both suffers and their families. This condition is characterised by enlarged and weakened heart, weakness In muscles and recurrent infections due to small number of white blood cells and there is only 200 people worldwide with this rare condition and  effects mainly boys, which there is no known cure. Running this marathon personally presents massive challenges for myself  Running 26.2 miles around Manchester  without shoes but I  am determined to complete this challenge and do it for Rosa and her family and any other boys or girls suffering with this condition and I am  proud to raise as much money as I can for the Barth Syndrome UK , I understand that people may not be able to donate due to cost of living crisis but would be greatful if you could share our story, thank you for reading
