Story

At the heart of every successful football community trust is
a successful disability programme with a multitude a facets, dedicated coaches and a team of volunteers ready to go the extra mile who ensure training, games, tournaments and other social events happen. 12 members of staff and one of the disability programme participants Stephen Kilty(see bio below) will certainly be going the extra mile this October but more skywards then in terms of your standard distances.

As part of a fundraising initiative led by one of our MCT disability footballers Stephen Kilty and  members of staff will be aiming
high and completing a skydive from over 12,000 feet (the Shard is 1004)
including Stephen himself.

The aim of the thrill a minute fundraising event is to raise money towards a minibus so players are able to travel up and down the country
to participate in an array of tournaments and competitions. As well as raising money towards the minibus, money will also be spent on the ongoing development and delivery of the disability programme, providing young people and adults with disabilities free footballing opportunities they may never have previously had chance to participate in.

Lions fan Stephen Kilty is undertaking a daunting charity challenge as he attempts to raise £10,000 for Millwall Community Trust.

The 21-year-old is a regular on the Trust’s Disability Sports programme and will, along with 12 members of staff, be doing a sky dive in October to help raise funds for a new mini bus.

Stephen has loved playing football his whole life but during his early teenage years coaches at a local club gave up on him because he didn’t like to share the ball. Not long after turning 14, Stephen was statemented with autism and had to change schools, but that did little to dampen his enthusiasm for the beautiful game.

After a spell playing for Margate he began to get involved with Millwall Community Trust’s disability programme. Along with his twin brother Dominic, they approached coach Ben Perryman with details of their bid to raise money for a mini bus so that others wanting to get involved but without the necessary means of transport could do so.
