Story
Hello this is a story that has rocked my world for life, it started back in February when we were enjoying a family holiday in Cornwall, we had booked a lovely Cottage for a week and one night my Wife Sue woke me up at 04.30 in the morning saying that she did not feel very well.
i went downstairs to get some painkillers aqnd thought that it would help her bad head, it did but Sue started to develpe a bad cough, we returned from holiday having done the best we could if only for the rest of the family, coughing seemed to get worse so much so that Sue was forced to go to the Doctors, This was a bit scarey as both the Doctor and Sue were concerned that there was a Little pulse in Sues stomach which startled me, Sue was then sent for the Camera to see if the problem could be identified.
Some week and a half had gone by when we received a call from the Royal Hospital asking both Sue and i to attend on a Friday, Sue declined to go on the Friday because we had a Wedding to attend that very day (thats another story which incidently went very well) but could we go the following Monday.
This made Sue and i very nervous all weekend wondering what the news was going to be and yet we both knew because it was the same person we had to see when Sues Mother went down this very path, how ironic some tears later that Sue was going to see the same Doctor as her Mother. It was the news we thought and they had diagnosed Stomach Cancer.
Sue being the brave soul she was took it better than i did but had to show strength to her to support her, we accepted it and yet we did not know how bad it was, so the next step was to have an MRI Scan whick took place the next day.
I can remember sitting on Sues Bed waiting for a Doctor to give us the results and at 3.30 he entered the room saying these words.
How can i help you ? I replied we know its Cancer but tell me how tour going to make her better.
He stood and nodded his head left to right then muttered we cant.
I replied what you can put men on the moon yet you cant make Sue better.
Now at this point Sue started crying saying why me ? what have i ever done to hurt anybody, I have to say as i Write this i am crying because its so hard for me sorry.
Sue after some seconds but felt like hours asked, so how long do i have, he replies that that was a very unfair question to ask, but since you have I will give you an honest opinion.
Two Months at the outside.
We just had to get out of the Hospital and go home as they could not do anything for my Wife Sue.
Sue was admitted to Loros in Glenfield for Medication in the hope we can get Sue strong enough for Chemotheropy as we would grasp anything to give her life.
Meetings took place and a series of planning took place, visits to the Royal Hospital for one thing or another back Home back to the Royal and so on over a period of about a month.
Sue was getting slower at walking sick every 5 minutes it was a nightmare for the poor Girl. Then i had to sort out her Tablets because she did not know what time of day it was or which she should take.
I made that my role to help her as much as i could, this resulted in Sue going back into Loros and at this point it was to make her stronger or not come out in other words pass away.
Now at this point i was trying to balnace Sues situation with work and was spending three hours at home and the rest i was sitting with Sue in a chair next to her bed.
Loros was a place i knew nothing about at all, I have passed the Hospice for 27 years and had know idea what it stood for.
This Hospice is absolutely fantastic from the moment you walk into Reception to the Cleaning Staff, catering staff, Doctors, and last but in know way least the Nurses.
They do a job way above the call of duty so caring, polite, and really took to Sue they were the Green team and like the other teams there do a fantastic job.
We have all cried trying our best for Sue, her Birthday was Tuesday the 24th July and they baked her a cake, our 39th Wedding anniversary was Thursday 26th and gave us cards it was so touching.
At the time I can remember asking Sue after her Birthday just to make the Thursday for us and bless her she did.
Sue Passed away on the Friday the 27th as myself My two wonderful Daughters Emma and Clare her Sisters Linda and Mandy and my Sister Di were by her bedside as she passed away.
This for us has been the most horrid time as Sue also leaves with our Grandchildren Joshua, Elise, Tyler and Little Maddison, whome were hers as she looked after tham every single Friday at ours and Joshua is 17 years old.
Sue i met when I was 18 years ols and married when I was 21 rears old and passed away at 56 years of age,
To show our support to the Wonderful work that Loros have done we will be riding our bikes from London to Paris we have a team of nine and we will be the Green Team and would like to give back something to this great Hospice and i am sure there are more up and down the country like this.
Like mant people like us you never know when you will need the support of a Hospice like this so please help us to keep this Hospice going because we need so much their help beacuse without it we would have been completely lost.
We want to give them a big thank you its out of our comfort zone by far my Daughters and Family are supporting me and Loros as well and without my Lovely Family being around me i do not think i would be here as they keep me going and love them so much you would not believe.
Please Please help us anything helps let us get them the riches they so deserve.
Thank you for reading my Strory i miss her so bad it hurts everyday as i think of the wonderful times we had together and the lovely families we have.
