Loch Ness Marathon 2010 · 3 October 2010 ·

We're a thriving parent-run charity for children with Down's Syndrome and their families in South London. Our unique free early intervention therapy service helps young children (0-6 years) with their physical, language and emotional development, giving them essential skills for daily living.

Story

On Sunday morning I am hoping to complete the Loch Ness Marathon to help raise awareness and funds for a local charity in South London called Down's South London (DSL).  I will be running with my friend Mark who's daughter April was born last October and has Down's Syndrome, which is a life long condition that causes delays in learning and development. April has just started to attend DSL to help her develop her communications skills.  It is a small local charity and support network for children with Down's Syndrome and their families that provides specialist speech and language therapy and survives entirely on donations from the general public. Communication is one area that children with Down's Syndrome find more difficult to develop and the ability to communicate is the single greatest determinator in how children with Down's Syndrome integrate into society. Assistance with speech and language can make a real difference to children with Down's Syndrome and we are looking to raise money for the charity so that they can help more children like April.

If you would like to help by donating then it should be quick and easy to do so through this page.  Your support is greatly appreciated – Thank you!

P.S. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
