Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am proud to run this half marathon to raise funds for SHINE. In my role with Northumberland, Tyne & Wear I get to see the positive impact of this charity daily, on the lives of services users who have are living with mental health, autism and learning disabilities. SHINE support the development of enabling environments that support hope and positivity, these interventions make a real difference.

Running is something that has supported me as I have moved on from mental health as well as physical health issues. Although I run with a smile, running isn't easy for me. I was badly burned as a teenager and almost lost my life, I've battled for over 20 years to save my left leg, undergoing more than 30 operations in the process.

Any chance I get to run is good for me as I don't know what is round the corner, while I can run I will and while I can raise money for charity running I'll do that too.

Thanks for any support you can give, it means a lot to those who access SHINE.

About the charity

SHINE make a huge difference to the experience of service users cared for in our hospital sites and community services across the North East and Cumbria. Donations can provide the support for the extra things that would not be possible from funding we receive from central government alone.
