Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Clean, safe water is essential for life yet every year in Uganda over 4000 children die from Diarrhoea. 88% of diarrhoea sickness can be prevented with safe drinking water and improved sanitation. In Uganda, women and girls spend, on average, 4 hours and day collecting water for their families and 65% of Ugandans have no toilet in or around their homes. What a horror it must be, to see your children sick, with diarrhoea, knowing that they could die.

We can get a drink of clean water from a tap, even buy a bottle for a couple of quid. I can't imagine being thirsty and not having access to safe water. What a choice! And imagine not having access to a clean loo!

Scientist now know that it is possible for to travel to Mars, and they have already developed the technology to provide clean drinking water when they get there. This is an amazing achievement for the advancement of mankind! The good news is that the technology to provide clean water and sanitation in Uganda is much less expensive! Yet I think, loving and caring enough for our fellow humans, to help provide this basic human need of safe drinking water and sanitation, is just as important.

Hannah always wanted to help others and from a very early age, had a desire to do some sort of aid work. She was inspired to study medicine after seeing the aid workers helping people in Haiti following the earthquake there in January 2010. In 2013 she was able to go on a medical mission to Ghana with International Needs. There, she saw the plight of the Trokosa women who had suffered under a very oppressive tradition. Hannah would have been very enthusiastic about this project because it is particularly supportive of the women and children, who suffer most from these problems.

I am very grateful for any support that you give. I will be consuming quite a lot of clean water, and using the loo a few times on the day of the ride. Something I take for granted! I will definitely have sore legs! But any donation you make, will make a difference to someone who can't take these basic necessities for granted. Thank you for reading this and God Bless.
