Hell Down South · 27 November 2011
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On a cold morning on the 27th November I’m going to run ‘Hell Down South’ – a muddy 10-12 mile trail run that involves struggling up and down hills and wading through icy rivers. I will be raising money for Mountain Rescue England and Wales through sponsorship of my run. The charity is particularly important to me because of the diligence and determination of their volunteers when searching for my father under adverse conditions in Snowdonia.
Any donations regardless of size will be really appreciated. Knowing I’ve got sponsors who I don’t want to let down and that we are helping a vital charity will help to give me the determination to keep going to the end, especially as I plunge into the first freezing river! Anyone who is kind enough to sponsor me will receive an invitation to be my friend on GPS-Sport so you can see the time and sweat I’m putting into training for the event.
With such a good initial response I have raised my original target. I am now aiming to raise £370 which would pay for a comprehensive first aid kit and a full rescue harness.
A bit more about Sponsorship:
I have paid for own my race entry so that Mountain Rescue England and Wales can get as much money as possible.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
A bit more about Mountain Rescue England and Wales:
As registered charities, staffed entirely by volunteers, Mountain Rescue England and Wales (and the individual teams) rely on the support and generosity of the public to survive. It costs a tremendous amount to fund a mountain rescue team. You can find out about how your sponsorship money will be used here.

Punishment of the Sole - Redemption of the mind
The Brooks Hell Down South is over multi-terrain and varying underfoot conditions. There will be everything from running tracks and trails to water-filled areas and plenty of steep hills. Expect to get very wet! It will be nature at its toughest. The course will be marked but do not expect to see mile or kilometre markers (that’s for those softy road-running types). All you need to know is that the course will be probably more than 10 and less than 12 miles in length. Hey! With what we have in store, who’s counting?
