Left undiagnosed and unsupported, dyslexia negatively impacts children and young people. It affects their self-esteem. Their ability to learn. Their life chances. With your support, Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity can help people with dyslexia from all backgrounds to believe, achieve and succeed.

Story

I am running the 2022 London Marathon on behalf of the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity.

My husband and my daughter have dyslexia and I feel passionately about raising awareness of dyslexia and the fact its so much more than challenges with reading and writing.

For us a family, it presents daily challenges in learning, processing information, helping information to lock into our daughters long term memory and social challenges.

Our daughter was bullied at her first primary school because of what we now know were symptoms of her dyslexia.  We had to move schools and fight every day for the right support. This is where the Helen Arkell charity, really helped us in understanding the challenges our daughter faces and were also there to support me to learn about dyslexia and how we can best support her.

I am running to raise money to help other children and adults benefit from the expertise and support of Helen Arkell, to help raise awareness of how everyone can support family, friends and colleagues more and to show my daughter that you can achieve anything if you put your mind to it.

I am truly grateful for any donations and support in this huge challenge!
