Ken's kindness fund

Paula Heaton is raising money for Wigan and Leigh Hospice
In memory of Ken Heaton
We provide specialist end-of-life care, and a wide range of support services, to over 1,200 people who are living with a life-limiting illness in the Wigan Borough. Many patients are cared for in their own homes, although we also care for people living in care homes and in our In-Patient Unit.

Story

My dad was my best friend. He passed on many wonderful values, one of which was the importance of being kind and helping. My dad knew he was loved and at the end of his journey I was with him to ease his passing and witness the end of his life. The end of anyone's life is hard and upsetting but what gave me comfort was him having the best of care from the hospice team. His final days were calm, dignified and respectful. The hospice is only part funded by the NHS and the rest comes from fundraising and donations. Every little penny donated means dignity at the end.
