Story

10/7 I DID IT! 1 hr 15 mins - not bad for an old girl!

9/7 Carbo loading at Prezzos! Less than 12 hours to go. Thank you everyone who has sponsored me. Hope I live to thank you in person.

8/7 last training run today! Wish I could say it was easy but it wasn't. Training partner complete with 3/4 tail and bandage accompanied me though - he doesn't understand why he can't come on sunday!

7/7 Only 3 days to go. we had a tewingirls meet up at lunchtime. It's all getting very real! Oh help

6/7 Good run today but my training partner has broken his tail and has to have part of it removed tomorrow

5/7 Not only did i have a day off but compounded it by going out to dinner! Christina you are leading me astray!

4/7 LAST WEEK! Oh dear. Still a bit on the warm side but I have a new top that leaves my tummy bare (and cool)

3/7 Settled for a couple of long walks today

2/7 Start of Le Tour today - i do like a man in Lycra! Meanwhile Dyl and I were out on the raod again. Please don't be hot on 10th!

1/7 So now it's July and the DAY is getting very near! My trusty 4-legged training partner and I were out again this afternoon. Thankfully foot is a lot better!

30/6 Off to the pool. Think swimming might be a good move today as I have a large egg on my left foot!

29/6 back on the road again! Was doing fine until I dropped the Bar b Que on my foot. Oh well!

28/6 Sometimes you need to have a day off and looking at that rain I think that's a wise move!

27/6 Got up early and went out in the (relative) cool. Gosh I hope it's not this hot when we do it for real!

26/6 Well we walked the course today. Don't know if it made me feel better or worse! There aren't too many hills but just walking it wore me out - mind it was very hot and very crowded..

25/6 Well despite the warmth we did a long one today and now I'm paying for it. Going up to london to walk the course tomorrow. Forecast is 30C hope it's a bit cooler in a fortnight!

24/6 Dyl and I did a good run today. Actually felt quite positive. Hope it lasts - planning a long one tomorrow.

23/6 Back in the pool. Felt good. Thank you to all my lovely generous friends for sponsoring me. I'm starting to get a bit nervous!!!!!!

22/6 Went to court today (no I've not been naughty, I was a witness) What a waste of a day off!

21/6 Somedays it gets easier, others it DOESN'T!

20/6 Beat the rain today but I don't like it hot!!!!

19/6 Day off running but got my exercise pushing mother-in-law up hill and down dale in the wheelchair

18/6 Long run today - went surprisingly well - only trouble was I couldn't stay awake all evening!

17/6 Cool and wet again but it makes the running easier!

16/6 So after yesterday's indulgence, thought I'd better make up for it with a run AND a swim! Got wet twice actually but it's so much easier in the cool!

15/6 No time to run today - instead had a nice dinner at the Fleece and undid all the good work!

14/6 Even warmer - I definitely don't like it hot when I run!

13/6 Back on the treadmill today - had Lou for company and it was surprisingly warm!

12/6 Day off and drinks and canapes in the long room at Lord's! It was raining (of course) but that's a special place.

11/6 Getting there slowly - 4 weeks to go tomorrow!

10/6 Went for a run in the rain only to see the sun come out in the evening!

9/6 My little girl is VERY clever. LLB FIRST Class Hons! Well done LouLou

8/6 So, the car's in Buntingford and I'm in Braughing. Thought I'd run there to pick it up! Seemed like a good idea at the time. Still now I've done 4 1/2 miles (at least most of if) but I was glad to drive home

7/6 Nice little run before dinner

6/6 long day at work so put my feet up. Thanks to all those wonderful people who have sponsored me.

5/6 After yesterday's exertions, settled for a good walk today

4/6 Decided it was time to push it so went for 7K today. Thought I was going to die at the start - hot and uphill - but made it. Mind, I was ready for bed by 8.00!

3/6 Ran with both girls today, even warmer though!

2/6 Made up for yesterday - ran with Caro - bit warm though then spoilt it all at the pub quiz

1/6 Nice girly shopping in Cambridge then we relived the great win so no time to train today

31/5 Running again but feeling good still

30/5 Lovely walk round suffolk with paul and the Dog - and a rather large baguette for lunch!

29/5 Feeling surprisingly good today - must be that winning feeling!

28/5 day off to see my wonderful Saracens become Aviva Premiership Champions. Don't think the celebrations will be too good for fitness but what the hell!

27/5 Back on the road again - always feels a bit easier after a swim

26/5 Swimming today - much nicer!

25/5 I hope it's not hot when we do the run. My legs felt like lead today and it was only 22 degrees. Oh dear!

24/5 Busy day at work so had a day off (sore ankle)

23/5 Nice run with Lou this afternoon. Wish things were going a bit easier though!

22/5 So the moment of truth - did all that walking do any good? Well have to admit I felt quite good on the run today so maybe it did! ONLY 7 WEEKS TO THE RUN. OH HELP !!!!!!!!!!!

21/5 Did the South Shore today (only 13 miles - just a little stroll!) then drove home. Can't believe what happened in the Heineken Cup.

20/5 Went for a nice little run then off to Holy Island. Saw loads of seals and birds and found a lovely pub for lunch.

19/5 Planned a nice "little" walk down the North Tyne and back along the Penine Way. Whoops! Took us 7 hours and around 19 miles! Even the dog was tired

18/5 9 miles along Hadrian's wall from Walltown to Housesteads. Doesn't sound a lot except we probably did 2,500 feet ascent along the way. But I've always wanted to walk the wall - now fancy doing the whole coast to coast!

17/5 happy birthday to me! Walked the North shore of Kielder Water - around 11 miles but really nice

16/5 Off to Northumberland today. Hubby's birthday. Walked for 2 1/2 hours across bog n bracken. Must have done some good?

15/5 Just watched wonderful Sarries beat Gloucester 12-10. If the running doesn't give me a heart attack watching Saracens undoubtedly will!

14/5 So much to do, barely time to run but managed it just! Then off to a wedding - drank too much - I'll pay for it tomorrow

13/5 Friday 13th! Still managed a good run

12/5 Good swim today

11/5 Note to self - don't run after dinner! First time today i got a stitch. Still it was quite nice running at dusk - eerie!

10/5 Just me and the dog today but stuck to the extended running

9/5 Played tennis, walked the dog AND went swimming

8/5 Good run today. Caroline came with me and we are definitely running a lot more - say 80%

7/5 This is dedication for you - out running at 7.15 am on a saturday with lou. Actually didn't go too badly then off to harlequins to watch another sarries' win. Unfortunately undid all the good work in the evening with an indian and rather a lot of wine!

6/5 No time to run. organised a quiz night (which went very well) but I'll pay for it tomorrow!

5/5 Busy day today but no excuse for not exercising. Did very good swimming session

4/5 Extended the route a tiny bit. the dog is much fitter than me!

3/5 back to work. Back to run

2/5 Spent the day in the garden AND did a run

1/5 Mayday! Queen of the may again.

30/4 Still running

29/4 I understand someone is getting married today? have learned that champagne and running don't mix!

28/4 Back pounding the roads again

27/4 Gardening today. Has to be the equivalent of about 20K!

26/4 Week off work but the running must go on. No 1 daughter bought me a pedometer and I have discovered the 6K circuit is actually only 5.85 :C

25/4 Run in the morning and a 2 hour country walk with old friends this afternoon. And it's a bit cooler.

24/4 Well done sarries, home semi-final secured

23/4 Hi to St George. This time tried going late but it was even hotter! 27 degrees in April. The Pimms was most welcome

22/4 Went out early but it was still VERY warm!

21/4 No 1 daughter's birthday so definitely good excuse not to run.

20/4 Discretion is the better part of valour so we all went swimming today

19/4 It is too hot for this running business

18/4 Long Adoption Panel so a run was most welcome. And it's getting hotter

17/4 Lou's boyfriend came with me today. When we got back I was sweating buckets and red as a beetroot and he looked like he'd just walked down the stairs! It's not fair!

16/4 Fabulous day off watching my beloved Sarries win in Exeter. Beautiful ground and great supporters.

15/4 Late home from work and still she runs - that's dedication!

14/4 Onwards and upwards!

12/4 New route today. Up to 6K (no we don't run all the way, we walk up the hills!) Both daughters for company plus the dog.

11/4 Day off yesterday - made up for it today! 2 sets of tennis then a run. Now shattered!

9/4 No 1 daughter accompanied me today. Definitely easier in company

8/4 Left it a bit later but it was still very hot! Even Dylan lay down in the shade when we got back!

7/4 Swimming today - bit cooler

6/4 I am praying for rain on the 10th july! Such a beautiful day but the heat was nearly the end of me! Back is definitely on the mend and surprisingly running seems to be helping.

5/4 Alas pressure of work prevents any exercise today - sure I'll pay for it tomorrow

4/4 Went for a run with Lou. Thought it would make back worse but if anything it's improving

3/4 Day off and a great win for sarries over Bath

2/4 bad backs and housework don't mix!

1/4 attempted a run rather gingerly with the support of my daughter and my brother-in-law but we made it!

31/3 back still very sore but did excellent swimming session which seemed to help

30/3 Ouch, back was fine when I got into the car but definitely not good when I got out! Good job it's a rest day - can barely walk let alone run!

29/3 New route today - bit longer, bit hillier, more running but I made it! lord only knows what I'll feel like in the morning!

26/3 I think it was a tiny bit less hard today (I wouldn't go as far as saying easier). Good job I've got plenty of time!

25/3 Well the picture proves I've been out training. Lou came with me today. Still can't say I'm feeling any fitter but i expect it takes time when you're as old as me. Take pity on me and sponsor me please!

21/3 Almost completed a week of training now. Wish I could say I thought it was having some beneficial effect! Still it was nice to have a run with my daughters on saturday (who are both fitter than me but then they're 30+ years younger) and they did grudgingly say they were impressed by the old girl. Anyway onward and upward as they say!

17/3 After a wonderful week in Paradise (aka Tobago) training schedule starts now. Did my first run (well half run half walk) yesterday and boy am I stiff today! Still today is "cross training" which means walking the dog and swimming then back to running tomorrow. I went out and bought some running shoes and some snazzy little black 3/4 running trousers so at least I look the part.

Please dig deep and sponsor me. We are hoping to raise enough money to buy lots of new toys for our Child Development Centre (yes you guessed, we medics love playing with the Brio).
