London Landmarks Half Marathon 2024 · 7 April 2024 ·
This is my story that I want to tell, to tell you how important raising money for this charity is to me now.
About a year ago I started to experience discomfort in my leg that I thought was just an injury. I didn't think much of it and carried on.
Fast forward to September after I did Man vs Mountain in Wales, my left leg started to feel tingly and numb. I thought I just needed time to recover but after my left arm, hand and face started to feel the same, my friends and family convinced me to see a doctor. After a small stint in hospital on steroids, a lumbar puncture and MRI scans, the doctors found white matter/leisons on my brain and spine. On 11th January 2024 I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.
The NHS, Consultants at Bedford and Luton hospital and the MS Specialist team have been amazing support and this has led to a quick diagnosis for me. My next step will be to discuss treatment which is likely to be monthly DMT injections.
This is why it was really important for me to run this half marathon for the MS society. I'm a consistent runner but it has not been easy over the last year and I have had to change my running goals and sometimes my every day runs have become a challenge in themselves. It is important for me to keep active and completing this half marathon for MS society will keep me motivated.
Thank you for reading and for sponsoring me, it really means a lot. Nothing will stop me, not even MS, it just makes me.... me.
